TRADITIONAL KARATE ASSOCIATION
(Requirements for rank)

1st Kyu Brown Belt ( いきゅ )

A.) Demonstrate the techniques found in the 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd & 2nd. Kyu requirements while moving and turning.

B.) Demonstrate multiple kicking as prescribed by chief examiner

C.) Demonstrate 21 Sanbon kumite ( さんばんくみて ) techniques.

D.) Demonstrate self-defense against the following:

  1. Overhead club
  2. Roundhouse club
  3. Jabbing knife
  4. Front bear hug over and under arms.
  5. Rear bear hug over and under arms.
  6. Side headlock

E.) Demonstrate the following sweeps:

  1. Rear leg sweep to the back of the lead leg.
  2. Lead leg hook sweep to the back of the lead leg.
  3. Rear leg hook sweep to the lead leg.

F.) Demonstrate the following kata　( かた )　, and give the translation.

  1. Chung Jang　(Unfinished Kata)
  2. Seiuchin (The Saints)

G.) Demonstrate techniques and power by breaking 4 one inch boards.
